An official of Tihar Jail has received a threat SMS, purportedly sent from the cell phone of Dawood Ibrahim’s close aide Chhota Shakeel, to eliminate Chhota Rajan in Tihar Jail.

After being on the run for 27 years, underworld don Chhota Rajan was deported to India after being caught at Bali in Indonesia in October last year and continues to face death threats even inside the high-security jail where he has been lodged, the Delhi police sources said.

According to a Tihar law officer Sunil Gupta, he received an SMS and a call from an anonymous caller on Saturday who threatened to kill Chhota Rajan. Since the call, Chhota Rajan’s security has been increased.

The SMS was sent from mobile number 971504265138, threatening “The End” of Chhota Rajan very soon, sources said. A call had also been received on Tihar’s landline number.

“How long will you save this dead pig from death, very soon I will do his the end,” the message by Chhota Shakeel said.

A special cell officer confirmed receiving the message by the Tihar official without disclosing anything else. The case is under investigation.

Mr Gupta had on November 24 last year received an SMS which he brought to the knowledge of higher authorities and sought security for himself and his family, sources said. The matter is now being investigated by the police.
