Pakistan: Baloch parents to be quizzed
The Pakistani police will interrogate social media starlet Qandeel Baloch’s parents in her murder case, officials said on Tuesday.
The Pakistani police will interrogate social media starlet Qandeel Baloch’s parents in her murder case, officials said on Tuesday. Baloch’s parents will be quizzed in addition to the interrogation of Mufti Abdul Qawi in the case.
The police said Qandeel Baloch’s father, who named Waseem and his another son in the FIR for killing her in Multan, changed his statement thrice.
The autopsy report contradicted the time of murder, as stated by Qandeel Baloch’s parents in the FIR.
The model’s parents had said that their son Waseem killed Qandeel between 2 am to 3 am in the early hours of Saturday.
Waseem, who confessed to the killing, said he drugged his sister using the same sedatives their father used.
He also revealed he had visited their Multan residence at least three times with the intention of killing her.
However, his attempts were foiled as their parents sent him away every time. Furthermore, Qandeel Baloch’s mother also accused Qawi of instigating his sons Shahid, Aashiq and Waseem against her slain daughter.
The police has made the state plaintiff in the case, making it impossible for her family from pardoning the killers, including her brother who has confessed to have strangulated her for “honour”.
According to capital police officer Azhar Akram, Section 311 have been added to the FIR, meaning “qisas”, or pardoning, cannot take place.
With the state becoming the plaintiff, Qandeel’s father would not be able to forgive his son Muhammad Waseem and other suspects for his daughter’s murder if at any point he decided to do so.
The police was also investigating all others who were in contact with the model before she was murdered.
