A bad law

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, in his effort to bring in a stringent new prohibition law in place of the one that was struck down by the Patna high court recently, is going in the completely wrong direction. The proposed new law has provisions to punish not just those who drink, but all adults in a household where liquor is suspected to have been consumed. This will only give the Bihar police a new weapon to harass people, whatever be the intent of those who framed it.
