A just demand

The Maratha Kranti Muk Morcha has been taking out silent marches in various towns in Maharashtra over the last one month, following the rape and murder of a girl at Kopardi in Ahmednagar district two months ago. Apart from demanding the death penalty for the accused, the Maratha community leaders are right in pressing for scrapping of the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act), saying it is grossly misused, and also raised other demands like quotas in education and jobs. A good beginning has been made as Marathas should get their due.
