As kids, and even as adults, board games and card games are always a fun way to pass the time. Karishma Agarwal and Ritika Shah from Rolling Tales are now taking that a step further with a workshop for kids between the ages of six and 12, where they can make their very own board games. This, according to the organisers, will make the games more special for the members of the workshop and also help them exercise their own creativity.

“At Rolling Tales, me and my partner Ritika organise a lot of out-of-the-box workshops for kids,” explains Karishma. “This is the second time that we are hosting this particular workshop and we are hoping for a response as positive as the first.” Karishma recalls that the previous workshop had seen kids make up as many as 16 interesting board games. “We usually guide the participants but the basic thought process is theirs,” says the organiser, “We tell them to go as crazy as they want and the results, so far, have been great.” Among the most remarkable of the lot were Colourage, which is a colour-based board game, Mimetime, which is similar to charades but with colour-coded cards, a sailing adventure board game with dice and a letter-based game of Housie.

“Once the kids are done making the games, we all play a single round of all the games that they make,” says Karishma, adding, “They can take home the finished product as a memento of the great time they had.”

The Make Your Own Board Game workshop is taking place on July 30, from 2 pm to 6 pm, at Milk, Gate no. 4, Kamala Mills Compound, Lower Parel.
