Lakme Fashion Week 2018: Back with a colourful bang

Inspired by timelessness
Urvashi Kaur’s Prahara collection was inspired by the ancient Indian system of division of time. Using monochromes of darker shades like greys and blues, the designer used a mix of khadi and the transparent Kota Doriya in linear patterns. The  shirtdresses, tunics, voluminous skirts and pants lent a breezy silhouette to the collection.

Soothing florals
With the cool summer breeze wafting in the night, the picturesque starlit garden of the ITC Grand Central Hotel was turned into a wonderland of lights and greenery that was a perfect setting for the glamorous fashion and style experience. The four runways that went through the audience gave them an ethereal experience as models glided out in Anita Dongre’s Summer Resort collection — Songs of Summer. The collection had a distinct 50s hint to it with midi tunics, soft tulle skirts and long, embelished coats — all in shades of the softest pastels. Showstoppers Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput stood out fom the rest in their stark white, elegantly embroidred outfits.

Metallic tones
Ritu Kumar’s Hip Hop Baroque collection stood out among the others with its metallic tones and dark shades. A wide palate of bold colours and prints mixed in vibrant hues and patterns and there were ’90s DIY punk directions to appeal to the younger dresser. Metallic tees and matching flared minis, a sari-inspired gown and a micro-mini, silver-sequinned skirt  were among the designs that glittered on the ramp. Taapsee Pannu turned showstopper for the designer in a bold shimmery robe worn over a lacy black inner.
