Deepika Padukone gives us major #stylegoals with this polka dotted look!

The festive cheer has caught up, and how! But, this season, how about playing it up with some polka dots to soak up the Xmasy vibe of the season? Consider it well, ‘cause the trend is raging on the fashion radar. Deepika Padukone has been a staunch polka dot loyalist, who has played around the trend for both casual and glamorous dos. So has Anushka Sharma and Sonakshi Sinha. While you may not really be game to go all out in a quirky playsuit like Dippy, you can always keep it elegant like Anushka’s simple yet striking polka dotted looks, and sophisticated by sporting a polka dotted midi skirt like Bollywood’s favourite fashionista Sonam Kapoor. Jacqueline Fernandez too knows how to step up her sartorial game in polka.  Well, there are a million reasons to sport polka dots with panache, stylists give us a lowdown on how it’s done — with just the right amount of sass!

Take a style lesson from Jacqueline Fernandez, who amped up her airport look with this polka dotted add-on.

“Polka dots is a standalone print. Mixing it up with different patterns and prints are not really suggested. In fact, I always vouch by a nude with polka rule every time I sport it,” shares designer Nagashree Govind.

While the trend essentially exudes a streak of standout retro verve, it has seen a renaissance over the past five years owing to its versatility.

“Polka dots was a rage in the past, and now, for closely about five years or so, it has become a massive fashion trend which gives out a very playful and feminine vibe that fits for both work and play,” opines designer Prerana Sarkar, who also adds that polka in feminine dresses are really a great idea this season. “Polka dotted fit-and flared dresses and low-cut swizz dot blouses are very trendy and look amazing on almost all body types. Even a nice polka top worn with giant clown pant or culottes are very chic. Throw over a fitted blazer and you’ve put together a very sharp office look,” she shares.

Addressing footy woes, that are often a concern while wearing this trend, designer Priyanka Vinod adds, “Polka dot outfits worn with combat boots are very edgy and stylish. One can also wear polka printed midi skirt with a crop top. For this season, peplums are in again. So sport them with those or swing dresses.”

Given the slight nip in the air, it is always a good idea to also pay equal emphasis to overcoats and add-ons. “I would flaunt a polka dotted outfits under a nice snug velvety cardigan or shrug. I’m not of the opinion that polka dotted shrugs are great. While it could make for a fabulous look, tread with caution as you wouldn’t want to look like someone who got teleport-ed back to the ‘70s! My style tip would be to pair a nice emerald hued long shrug, thrown over a white top and a pair of tailored black polka dotted trousers. Sneakers, ankle length boots, pointed peep toes are all great footwear options that compliment this look,” adds stylist Tasneem Khasim.
