Maggi Masala Dal Khichdi
Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • ½ cup moong dal
  • 1 finely chopped onion and tomato
  • 2 green chillies or red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tsp Maggi masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water
  • Coriander sprigs

Method

  • Wash rice and moong dal and soak together in water for 20 minutes. Drain and keep aside until needed.
  • Add 2 tbsp oil in a pressure cooker.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and green chillies, sauté. Add chopped onion and tomatoes and sauté until onions turn light brown, or for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add drained rice and moong dal, red chilli powder, salt and Maggi masala powder. Sauté for about a minute.
  • Add two cups water, mix well and close lid. Pressure cook for three whistles on medium-high flame.
  • Turn off flame and let the pressure release naturally. Open lid carefully, after about 6-8 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander sprigs, and serve with plain yogurt or pickle.
