Starbucks is giving its customers one more reason to opt for their coffees. It is now possible to enjoy whiskey at Starbucks as the coffee chain company has recently introduced new barrel aged coffee that has been infused with whiskey.

Called Starbucks Reserve Whiskey Barrel Aged Sulawesi, it is sold exclusively at the Seattle Roastery. The special limited edition coffee is served as a cold brew or as whole coffee beans.

The coffee beans are hand roasted over a number of weeks to ensure that it absorbs the flavour of the whiskey. So while there is no alcohol, the flavour of the whiskey gives the drink a relish. Duane Thompson, a member of the Starbucks beverage R&D team, said, “The process takes time, care and patience, ensuring we deliver a distinct experience that stays true to the specialness of the coffee while imparting the complementary, distinguished flavour of the oak-aged barrel. You get those earthy notes mingling with the oak to create a cup that’s unlike any other. Here’s hoping India also gets a taste of the whiskey brew.
