Say hello to candy beer
While you have all sorts of ingredients being added to beer for brewing purposes these days, candies are still rarely used ones.
Valentine’s Day may just have passed but that’s no excuse to not enjoy candies and hearts — especially in your drinks. A brewer in Michigan, US has decided to take the month of love a notch up, by adding candy hearts to beer.
While you have all sorts of ingredients being added to beer for brewing purposes these days, candies are still rarely used ones. The beer that has been christened Be Mine, is described on Short Brewing Company’s website as “a Belgian-style Tripel, brewed with candy heats and Belgian candi syrup.”
The drink is light copper in colour with a thick white head, and has aromas of clove, banana and bubblegum. It also has some “floral hoppiness” and citrus notes. Don’t worry, though. Despite being brewed with candy hearts and syrup, the beer doesn’t taste anything like a sugar overload, and can be enjoyed by anyone who’s partial towards Belgian brews.
You might want to be a tad careful with the drink, since it’s alcohol-by-volume is somewhat high 6.7 per cent.
