Alcohol doesn't cause weight gain, after all!
If the latest study is to be believed, you do not need to give up on your favourite choice of tipple after all.
Alcohol and weighty issues have always shared a problematic relationship, given how the former is often blamed for one’s failing efforts at losing weight. However, if the latest study is to be believed, you do not need to give up on your favourite choice of tipple after all.
A study conducted by Gregory Traversy and Jean-Philippe Chaput, who examined and analysed to establish the true relationship between drinking and weight gain, revealed otherwise. The study states that while heavy drinkers risked gaining weight, “light to moderate alcohol intake is not associated with weight gain or changes in waist circumference.”
But what exactly is “frequent light to moderate alcohol,” you ask? For men, it means having nothing more than two drinks a day, and for women, it means sticking to just one. The report stated, “Drinking wasn’t associated with body mass index in men, and it actually had zero to a negative effect for women. In other words, women who drank in moderation sometimes had less body mass index than women who didn’t drink.” Cheers!
