Literary genius Edgar Allan Poe doesn’t need any introduction. And if you have been a fan of his thrillers, especially The Cask of Amontillado, you’d be interested in this piece of news.

On January 30, interested folks can be sipping on a brand new whiskey inspired by the author’s psychological thriller.

The New Liberty Distillery, in the US, will be releasing a whiskey that takes its name from the unsuspecting victim in Edgar Allan Poe’s short story The Cask of Amontillado. In the story, Fotunato, lured by the promise of fine Amontillado sherry, is entombed alive in the wine cellar of his friend.

And here is where the distillery takes inspiration for the name. Labelled Fortunato’s Fate, the brand new spirit is a malted rye whiskey, finished in sherry casks all the way from Spain.

So as far as relishing spirits go, how about fusing your love for whiskeys and literature in one?
