While people try to avoid serious disorders, sometimes we might be surrounded by materials that put people at risk. Items like paint and varnish are known to have chemicals which aren’t considered great for health, and they may have severe consequences.

Risk of a crippling nerve disorder called multiple sclerosis can rise by 30 times due to chemicals in paint and varnish. People with genes that expose them to such conditions are seven times more likely to be affected by these solvents.

Even though the exact reason for this isn’t known, shoemakers are known to be at a higher risk of the condition due to chemicals in polish. One lakh people are diagnosed with MS in UK and 200 cases are reported in US every week.
