Dark circles are one of the most common beauty concerns among women. The skin around our eyes is very delicate and this it is prone to dryness and dark circles.  Dark circles make your face look tired, dull and generally less youthful.

They are caused when the blood vessels under your eyes become pressurised. They then become dilated, thus the dark appearance. This condition is further triggered by environmental pollutants, poor skin flexibility, genetics, hormonal changes and most commonly, sleep deprivation.

If you want to put the life back in your under eyes and want to brighten their appearance, here are a few foods that can help.

Cucumber

Cucumbers are packed with antioxidants like vitexin, orientin, and cucurbitacins. They are also known to have skin brightening and astringent properties. The presence of collagen-boosting silica is also beneficial. It is rich in Vitamin A,E and C which is perfect for hydrating the skin. It improves elasticity of the skin under the eyes and this eliminated dark circles.

People usually place cucumber slices directly on their eyes but they don’t serve any purpose other than soothing the tired eyes. If you want its full benefits, it must be consumed as food.

Watermelon

This fruit has over 90 per cent water content. It is rich in beta carotene, lycopene fibres, vitamin B1, B6 and C. It also has magnesium and potassium which are great for the skin. It improves the elasticity of blood vessels.

Tomato

Tomato’s bright red pigment is an indication of it being rich in anti-oxidants. The lycopene in it helps protect delicate blood vessels and enhance blood circulation around the eyes.

Sesame

This food is highly nutritious and boosts collagen production in the skin, which keeps it well-hydrated. Sesame seeds are also rich in zinc, copper, manganese, calcium, phosphorus, iron, and vitamin B1, which are crucial for skin and eye health.

Blueberries

They are rich in antioxidants as well as various vitamins. The compounds present in blueberries improve blood floe around the eyes and make sure it boosts your skin health.
