Dating has become easier now than before because of the internet and also various other dating applications that are a simple no-brainer to use. Even though getting into relationships takes a while, sex is never out of the question for people who date frequently either. However, relationship counsellors have suggested that sex detox is important for people who are looking to get serious.

According to a report in the Independent, a clinical psychologist Dr Megan Fleming has suggested that to break from the constant dating, refraining from sex is important for those who are more interested in sex than relationships. She told Broadly: It’s always important to look at the function of any behaviour and how it's working for you. Do you feel it's not working for you? Or you're not getting what you want, or your needs aren't getting met? Then I think stepping back and taking a break makes a lot of sense.”

While the sex detox will not necessarily help people find the right partner who is looking for a long term relationship, it will certainly help give clarity to the person as to what they want in their lives. Focusing on why you want to have a ‘sex detox’ is also another important task for anybody who wants to take it. It will however primarily help the person or couple understand their emotional needs rather than thinking just about the sex.
