Cancer can be painful and even a fatal disease which affects a large number of people. Obesity is also becoming a major health concern with authorities in different parts of the world trying to curb the problem.

Now findings of a research are predicting that obesity will become the leading cause of preventable cancer in a few decades. The condition is set to overtake smoking as a factor behind cancer among women in the next 25 years.

The study shows that 23000 cases of women suffering from cancer will be caused due to obesity by 2035. The development will be driven by a combination of rising obesity rates and a reduction in smoking rates.

Women are more prone to cancer caused by obesity including breast and womb cancer. This has led to calls for campaigns to focus on effects of weight as much as those of smoking.
