Baby in Thailand abandoned by parents has a 2 inch cavity in his head

Children born with deformities are often reported from across the globe, and in many cases these can turn fatal. But what’s more heartbreaking is how these children face isolation and are abandoned by society as well as by parents in many cases.

Simon Sama from Thailand was born with an abnormally large head in January and doctors had to operate to drain excess fluids. The change in pressure caused his skull to collapse leaving a two inch deep cavity in his head.

But as the child still needs treatment as soon as possible to survive, his parents have abandoned him as they left Simon with his grandmother. Simon’s grandmother describes his life as that of a vegetable as he can’t crawl or make noise like other children his age.

Meanwhile his head continues to swell and doctors are not sure if Simon will get any better or won’t get worse. The cavity seems to be getting bigger as the baby waits for the next hospital appointment to decide the course of treatment.
