Your hangover might actually be sign you're allergic to alcohol

While having a terrible hangover the morning after a night of boozing is not unusual, experts are now of the opinion that some symptoms may actually be a sign that you're allergic to alcohol.

According to health experts, an upset stomach or red rash may be symptoms of a potential alcohol allergy.

Furthermore, swelling of the lips and difficulty breathing would also suggest that you are having an allergic reaction.

They also add that some side effects experienced could be a sign that a person is just sensitive to particular ingredients within alcohol - including sulphites and histamine - rather than having an actual allergy.

According to experts, allergic symptoms may affect the skin, breathing and circulatory system. They can also be accompanied by red rash, swelling to the eyes, lips, face, breathing difficulties, stomach upset, feeling dizzy or faint due to low blood pressure.'

According to experts the side effects of alcohol may also mask allergic reactions to particular foods you have eaten the previous evening.

However, becoming 'red and flushed' while drinking alcohol is not a sign of an allergic reaction.
