Is porn causing rise in sex offences among children in UK?
The revelation is alarming since a large number of children are watching porn and are copying what they see.
Porn is being viewed by millions of people on the internet all over the world and the number keeps growing thanks to the easy access to a wide variety of material. But while the effects of porn on men, women and their relationships are being discussed, the rise in porn consumption is also taking a toll on children.
While it has been known that teenagers have easy access to pornographic content, shocking statistics point to a grave situation where children as young as five are being reprimanded at schools for sex offences in Britain. Previously a boy convicted for sexual attacks at the age of 13 admitted that watching disturbing porn online did act as a reason behind his actions.
The revelation is alarming since a large number of children are watching porn and are copying what they see. Activists have urged schools to educate children about the effects of pornography as the offences include assaulting or harassing other children.
Last year a case emerged where a 12-year-old repeatedly raped his younger sister after becoming obsessed with hardcore porn he found online. Among the hundreds reprimanded for sexual misconduct, most were aged 14 but seven of them were just five.
