A woman from Plympton was left shocked when she learnt that she was pregnant, just 45 minutes prior to giving birth to a baby boy.

Lisa Leathard admitted herself into A&E when she suffered severe stomach pains but was left stunned on learning that she was actually in labour.

While paramedics were at first puzzled, an ultrasound revealed at the Derriford Hospital revealed that she was moments from giving birth.

Speaking to the Plymouth Herald she said that it was almost like a scene out of Casualty, with everyone running through the hospital to get her to an emergency delivering suite.

She added, “The baby was taken away for about 30 seconds and brought back – they said he was perfect, very healthy and thought he was full term because of his weight [7lbs7]."

Lisa then had to phone her work to tell them she couldn’t come in because she had had a baby.

Interestingly, it was acyually a shock for 35-year-old Lisa who had agreed not to have children with her husband Nick, 45 and claims not to have noticed any signs or symptoms of being pregnant - apart from swollen ankles.

She has even given birth to his baby brother Noah since.
