Arranged marriages have largely lost favour among the youth in desi communities because of increasingly liberal norms related to sex and relationships. But whether you take the traditional route or not, finding the the right life partner can be very tricky business indeed. Poet Nazreen Fazal, who got married just last August and is currently living in Saudi Arabia, recently shared her personal experience of finding her husband and the Internet took notice.
Nazreen described how the two exchanged several emails in a span of two months in which they discussed their priorities in life and future plans. She also advises that single people should not bow down to cultural pressures of getting married early and review their choices carefully.
