Lions in South Africa attack and kill suspected poacher who was tracking them
As David was attacked by the very animals he was tracking, his screams frightened the other two who fled the spot leaving their guns behind.
‘As you sow so shall you reap’ is a saying which has been known to be true through ages as people are eventually confronted by the consequences of their actions. Illegal poaching of animals has been a major issue for a while in Africa among other places and it has also led to extinction of several species.
50-year-old David Baloyi from Mozambique was suspected of poaching lions across the border in South Africa. But his deeds came to haunt him on Friday night when he set out to hunt lions with two others armed with powerful rifles.
The trio chose to hunt in the darkness but didn’t know that they were being stalked by a pride of lions that attacked them in the bush. As David was attacked by the very animals he was tracking, his screams frightened the other two who fled the spot leaving their guns behind.
The lions devoured almost his entire body and only his bloodied head was left as a way to identify the man. His sister-in-law visited the hospital to confirm his identity after she received a call about David being eaten by lions and also heard about it on the radio.
This incident comes months after another poacher was charged by a rhino and killed in Namibia.
