A boat for couples to sail away

With Valentine’s day finally upon us, florists are running out of red-red roses and couples are arming themselves with boxes of heart-shaped chocolates and candle-lit dinner reservations. The city has been decked up in red hearts and cupids, and there’s plenty to do for the conventional couple. However, for those looking for more than the romantic cliché, there are a few options to explore.

For those who want to spend some quality time together and learn something in the process London Taxi gastropub has a cocktail-making masterclass designed for couples.  At this 90-minute introductory bartending workshop by mixologist Ami Shroff, couples will learn to mix up various ingredients and take back fun memories. “It is for them to learn something together and share a few laughs,” says Ami. “From the Valentine’s menu, I will be demonstrating the Love Tonic and Foreplay drinks as these two go with the theme. Love tonic is a mix of raspberry puree, muddles of rosemary and gin and tonic, while, Foreplay is a mix of strawberry and creams, a fun cocktail to play with.”

For those who want to express their love through brush strokes and artsy designs with the pen, there is a calligraphy workshop that will definitely help pick up a few skills. The brush pen calligraphy on diary cover workshop by Iteeha Corporation will help attendees pick up a few skills for the perfect personalised gift.

“The workshop is about doing something for someone else than just for oneself, which is the most beautiful part of this workshop. And it results in the creation of artwork for your special someone,” says Ritika Jhunjhunwala, creative head, Iteeha Corporation. All products will be handmade and the participants will be working mainly with red, pink and green inks.

History buffs in the city can take a peek at some of the exhibits at Bhau Da Ji Lad Museum. “We have film screenings, workshop and adult learning programmes. I feel anything that engages and if people are interested in history and culture, this place is for everyone then. Be it couples or singles,” says Pooja Vaish, Curator, Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum.

But what makes it a perfect spot? The curator emphasises on the greenery surrounding the museum and café on the premises providing a romantic atmosphere.

Not just creative minds, but adventure lovers too can have a fun-filled Valentines’ celebration.  The Adventure Geek Explore the Unexplored has rolled out special packages for Valentine’s Day to let couples sail away in the boat. Organiser Ashita Agarwal says that the packages are customised specially for couples. Though they are available throughout the year, this week and the upcoming weekend is sure to see a boom.

“It is more adventurous than your usual car to hotel routine. You are right next to the water and enjoying being together with nature. It’s a great option for those who are looking for something different,” smiles Ashita.
