New 'peace anthem' promotes harmony between India and Pakistan on I-Day
Created by Voice of Ram, video shows singers from both countries singing each others national anthems in bid to promote peace.
A new song has emerged online that hopes to encourage tolerance between two countries.
Created by Voice of Ram, their Facebook page reads, “Soulful! Voice Of Ram is proud to present the VOR Peace Anthem.”
The ‘peace anthem’ features singers from both India and Pakistan.
The Facebook page further writes, “For the first time, since Independence, the national anthems of India and Pakistan is sung by artists of both nations. #HappyIndependenceDay #LetsEndThisHatred.”
The pro-peace group shared it online and social media users from both countries have praised the initiative.
One user wrote, “Hope this goes viral in Pakistan. Some Of us Indians care for peace. The best "independence" day gift both countries can give each other. Peace.”
Another user went on to write, “Really apreciate your this effort...inshaallah very soon we will be understand each other and there will be peace between us...happy independence day pakistan and india....”
The video begins with the words, "When we open our borders to art, peace comes along."
A series of artists then sing the Indian anthem Jana Gana Mana, and Pakistan's Pk Sarzamīn - some from recording studios, others on location.
The video ends with the line, "Let's stand together for peace".
