Storing movies gets easy
The app Movies Anywhere serves as a digital library that puts all your films under one roof.
Keeping track of the many movies that users download from various platforms is quite a task. The newly launched app ‘Movies Anywhere’ aims to make the job easier.
The promise of Movies Anywhere is that once the user creates an account, the app will keep track of where the user bought the movies from. It’s both a cloud-based digital locker and a one-stop-shop app. Customers can connect Movies Anywhere to their iTunes, Amazon Video, Google Play or Vudu accounts. The app is like a personal movie-only 'Dropbox'.
Since the Movies Anywhere app works across a number of platforms, it allows users to create a digital library and also lets the users take the digital library with them no matter the device or the operating system.
Technically, Movies Anywhere was launched by Disney three years ago. The new Movies Anywhere's function are similar to Disney's Movies Anywhere because it is built on the same digital rights system architecture called the 'Key Chest'.
However, it was limited to films from Disney or any Disney-owned studios. The difference with the new app is the 'selection' aspect. Warner Bros., Universal, Sony Pictures, and Twentieth Century Fox have all signed on to Movies Anywhere, apart from the launch library by Disney that offers more than 7,300 titles. More movies will be added as more studios get on board.
The best part about this app is the hassle-free movie viewing experience it provides across platforms. Compatibility is the key here. If the user wishes to watch a movie bought on iTunes on Android, it would work effortlessly if the movie is on Movies Anywhere. The same applies if the user plans on watching a movie bought from Amazon on Chromecast.
