Now, selfies in migrane mode
About the migrane pose, Neetu says, There are tons of these trends, this too shall pass.â€
Are you tired of seeing people posting happy selfies online and wondering if social media will ever get real? Fret not! The ‘migrane pose’ is here.
For those days when you don’t feel your happiest self, the latest selfie trend lets you be your true self and pose even with a headache. And for those who don’t have one, they can always pose.
Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski have all joined the trend. The pose involves keeping one hand or both on one’s temples, implying they have a lot of things to worry about, have a headache or are under stress. Kylie’s favourite make-up artist, Nam Vo, seems to have coined the term.
Anamika Sud, a third-year bachelor’s student in Delhi, loves the trend and says, “At least one can get real now. Selfies don’t have to be all fake all the time.”
However, people suffering from migrane have taken offence to the trend, calling it insensitive as well. Despite all that, people are joning the trend and also calling it an oppertune moment to show-off their well-done nails.
Psychologist Neetu Sharma however advises that one steer clear of selfie trends like these. “It is not only about this particular selfie-trend. Selfies are not the best thing that we as a species have done to ourselves. If it’s once in a while that one indulges, that is fine. However, most people are obsessed and these growing selfie-trends are only adding to the addiction.”
