Scrounge through your fridge and you’ll find some white powder casually nestled away. You look for this ingredient every time you bake, but apart from that, you leave it as it is. Well, it’s time to start loving it! Here are 3 amazing uses of baking soda-

1. DIY air freshener

That super-strong floral fragrance that you get after spraying your air freshener has equally super-strong chemicals! So, chances are, you’re breathing in all the bad things from gels, sprays, or beads. Some are so hazardous, that they even put you at the risk of cancer, like phthalates. Here’s an easy way to make a DIY room spray, as suggested by Purewow- mix two cups of water with a tablespoon of baking soda. Get your favourite essential oil, and add about 15 drops of it to the mixture. Pour this into a spray bottle, and voila, your home-made room freshener is ready.

2. Clean oil spills

Oops! This one is a super tricky accident to deal with. Oil spills can be very annoying. And while your first instinct will be to wipe it using a rough cloth, avoid that mistake. Because it’ll only get smudged and you’ll end up ruining your precious tapestry or sofa covers. Just spread some baking soda and let it absorb the oil. This will take about an hour. Next, wipe it off gently (don’t rub) and then use the appropriate cleaning material.

3. For white-as-milk teeth

If you’ve stained your teeth or they’re yellowing, fret not. You can make them shine bright like a diamond using a DIY toothpaste. All you’ll need are some simple, easily available ingredients. Pour some coconut oil in a pan and let it liquify. Next, take at least 4 tablespoons of baking soda and add it to coconut oil. Add about 25 drops of your favourite essential oil, and mix them well. Pour this liquid into a jar and refrigerate. Use this twice a day for best results.
