Woman hangs herself after hubby does not go shopping with her

A 23-year-old woman from Lucknow, Deepika Dwivedi, committed suicide because she was 'annoyed as her cousin was going to get married the next month and she wanted to go shopping for the wedding'

The distressed wife is reported to have hanged herself after her husband postponed a planned shopping trip by a single day.

The woman’s husband Deepak Dwivedi says he told 23-year-old spouse Deepika on Saturday that he would not be able to go shopping on that day, according to reports.

However, Dwivedi had promised they would have to do the trip the next day instead.

He says his wife was so annoyed that she locked him out of her room at their home in Lucknow.

Speaking to the local media he said that Deepika had wanted to go shopping as her cousin was getting married the next month.

Deepika had asked him to take her for shopping on Saturday, but Dwivedi who is a civil servant in the local government’s education department, asked her to postpone it for the next day because of work pressures.

“She was so upset about this that when I reached home from office in the evening, she locked the door of her room.”

When Deepika didn’t open the door, he had to sleep in the lobby.

The next morning after knocking on the door and getting no response he broke down the door and found her hanging form the ceiling. They had been married for a year and were living with the groom’s wife, brother and parents.
