HarperCollins India, ISF to co-promote Suprita Das' book on Women's cricket, Free Hit
Aimed at sports fans globally, ISF plans a novel outreach with fans of women's cricket lovers in India and the UK.
New Delhi: In an innovative tie-up, HarperCollins India, the world’s largest entertainment to education publisher has partnered with Indian Sports Fan (ISF), India’s largest community of sports fans for a women’s cricket outreach programme. The move is in tandem with the ongoing T20 Women’s Cricket World Cup 2018 ahead of the release of ‘Free Hit: The Story of Women’s Cricket in India’ authored by award-winning journalist Suprita Das and published by HarperCollins India.
HarperCollins India and Indian Sports Fan together will be catering to women’s cricket fans from 17 countries with exclusive content, podcasts, chats sessions with the author, sharing of historical anecdotes and various other Indian women’s cricket facets starting with fan reading sessions from Free Hit not only in India but also the U.K. ISF has 72,000 sports fans from across the world on its social media platforms.
Speaking on the occasion, Suprita Das, author Free Hit added, ‘Free Hit dives deep into the lives of a spirited bunch of Indian women cricketers who fought hard for their right to play, overcame sponsorship challenges, corrected gender-based pay gaps and tackled the sheer indifference of cricket administrators along the way. With over 72,000 followers on its Twitter profile, the Indian Sports Fan team took shape in the form of an exclusive WhatsApp group that has 150-odd high-powered fans, league team owners, sports media, Sportspersons. Prominent like Asian Game Gold medalist, Ashish Ballal (Olympian and former goalkeeper, Hockey), Boxer Akhil Kumar, former goalkeeper Baljeet Singh (Hockey), India’s first woman Olympic medalist Karnam Malleswari (weightlifting), sportscaster Sahil Khattar, Sunil Taneja along with various other sports media people and fans are a part of this group.
