Gujarat man distributes kaju barfi to celebrate divorce
He got calls from people saying they understood his happiness and also from mothers sharing horrible experiences with daughters-in-law.
Rajkot: The big fat Indian wedding is known for opulent functions that go on for days as well as the lavish menu to mark the sacred bond between two people. But even as people express their excitement over starting a new life together, some manage to find pleasure even in separation.
Divorce may not be the best thing to happen to a couple, but for a man in Gujarat it seems to be more of a reason to rejoice than the marriage itself. Rinkesh Rachchh from Rajkot had a totally surprising reaction to the end of his marriage as he went on to distribute 50 kgs of kaju barfi.
The packet read “Chutacheda Harakh Na” which means “to celebrate divorce” and had names of Rinkesh’s family members as well. The 26-year-old said that divorce to him was sweet reward after one year of marriage which he described as torture, and a two year legal battle that followed.
Rinkesh said that he got calls from people to congratulate him and ask how he managed to win the legal struggle, but most calls were from mothers who wanted to share “horrible” experiences with their daughters-in-law.
