Man to undergo life changing surgery to save face disfigured by tiger
The man from Bangladesh was attacked by a tiger 23 years back when he was working as a fisherman.
Tigers are terrifying animals and few people live to tell the tale after being attacked by one. Even if a person survives, these strong and vicious beasts are capable of leaving a person with some serious damage and traumatic memories for a lifetime.
45-year-old Hashmot Ali from Bangladesh survived an attack by a tiger 23 years back but the incident left him with a disfigured face. While what happened back then was brutal, Hashmot has spent his life hiding due to the fear of being judged by cruel strangers for his face.
There have been several attempts to reconstruct Hashmot’s after he lost almost all of it in the attack, but all have failed. But now there is hope that he may be able to live with pride without hiding behind a mask thanks to a life changing procedure which will be carried out in Dhaka over a period of two years.
Hashmot used to work as a fisherman and was attacked when he was sleeping in a docked boat in a forest canal. He has undergone several unsuccessful procedures including skin grafts over the years to reconstruct the left side of his face.
