According to a new study, the most nerve-racking sexual position has been revealed. Known as ‘69 standing up,’ it involves picking up the partner, or being picked up, while performing oral sex.

However, for 56.8 per cent of women and 42.7 per cent of men, the very idea of taking part in this fills them with fear.

Women may be more anxious than men as, in heterosexual relationships, the position will likely involve them being picked up, which runs the risk of them being dropped.

On the other hand, the least dreaded positions include missionary, cowgirl and doggy style.

According to experts, couples boost their desire for one another by occasionally trying out new moves between the sheets, no matter how tame or adventurous these may be.

While 69 standing up is the most dreaded, the second most dreaded sexual position is anal, which 54.5 per cent of women and 30.5 per cent of men would be nervous to try, followed by the 'kneeling wheelbarrow', which is anxiety-ridden for 24.8 per cent of women and 18.6 per cent of men.

Interestingly, research also reveals that European men are more anxious about masturbation, oral sex and 'dirty' intercourse than those from US.

In total, nine per cent of couples do not consider themselves to be sexually adventurous at all.

The research, which was conducted by Superdrug asked 1,000 people in relationships from Europe and the US which sexual positions make them feel the most anxious.
