Woman addicted to sex spent 7 hours doing intercourse and still wasn't satisfied
She later saw a psychiatrist for depression who changed the combination of her medication after knowing about sex addiction.
Having sex more often is generally considered a good thing for a relationship in addition to benefits for physical and mental well being. But things can get extreme when people crave too much of it and even develop an addiction.
37-year-old Rebecca Barker is a mother of three who craved sex every minute she was awake and was not satisfied even after spending seven hours a day having sex. She would feel less stressed and anxious for few moments but there was no real satisfaction as she could only think about doing it again once it was over.
The experience was draining for her partner who suspected her of having an affair making her become a recluse. She later saw a psychiatrist for depression who changed the combination of her medication after knowing about sex addiction.
Rebecca found that the real reason her body was craving sex was that it was a quick fix of happy hormones. She left her partner and was going for emotionally unavailable people to protect herself from obsessive sex.
Psychotherapists eventually told her that her high sex drive was obsessive compulsive disorder. She finally weaned off anti-depressants and this also helped bring down her addiction to sex.
She is among four percent of the population who are sex addicts of which a quarter are women.
