Call centre racket: Seven arrested for cheating

Delhi Police on Thursday said that they have arrested seven persons who ran a fake call centre to cheat gullible people.

New Delhi : Delhi Police on Thursday said that they have arrested seven persons who ran a fake call centre to cheat gullible people. The police said that they used to impersonate bank officials and inquire about the one-time password (OTP) and other details. 

The police said the accused were identified as Sanjay Chaddha, 45. Sanjeev Chaddha, 47, Amir Khan, 28, Abhishek(26), Kundan Gupta(25), Sandeep Singh, 27, Satyan Vijay Rathore, 27. 

Once anyone revealed the OTP and other details to them, they would make heavy transactions from their accounts. 

Upon learning that the accused were running a fake call centre at Sagarpur, the police obtained the mobile numbers on the basis of forged documents. 

“We got another tip-off that one of their aides would be coming to GT Road to hand over a SIM card. We laid a trap for him and nabbed the accused, who was identified as Sanjay Chadda. Over 25 SIMs issued on fake addresses were seized from his possession,” the police said.
