New Delhi: A group of about five men armed with iron rods and wooden sticks brutally attacked a 22-year-old man in Karawal Nagar. When his parents came in for the rescue, the attackers hurled blows at them as well.

The incident took place on January 17 in Shiv Vihar’s Karawal Nagar. The victims were identified as Sushil (22), his father Nathuram (62) and mother Ramwati (55). While Sushil is still struggling for life, his parents are out of danger. The police have identified the accused as Satish, Durgesh and Satpal, residents of Karawal Nagar. They are neighbours of the victims.

The family alleged that initially the police ignored them and tried to shoo them away. Probe revealed that there was a court case going on between both the parties. However, the accused party has also registered a cross FIR against the victim.

“On January 17, around 7 in the morning Sushil was going for work when the three accused beat him with iron rods, which led to multiple fractures and other internal injuries. They also hit him on the head making him unconscious. They further thrashed me and my wife with the rods,” said Nathuram, who had a dozen stitches on his head.

Nathuram and Ramwati sustained serious injuries on heads. The couple alleged that there are several cases registered against the accused.

Speaking to this newspaper, Ramwati said, “Rather than feeling apologetic, the assailants have gone ahead and registered a case against us. They have falsely accused my elder son. They have alleged that he was involved in the fight. The truth is he wasn’t even present in the city and was in Lucknow.”

A case under sections 308 and 34 of IPC has been registered against the accused and a probe initiated, said a senior police officer.
