EDMC report card misleading: AAP
The EDMC's report card, released on Thursday, shows the work done by the municipality in the past five years.
New Delhi: Ahead of April’s civic polls, the Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday accused the BJP-ruled East Delhi Municipal Corporation of issuing a misleading report card. “The civic body doesn’t have an adequate solid waste mechanism and has done very little to improve health and educational standards in the trans-Yamuna region,” AAP Delhi convenor Dilip Pandey said.
“The EDMC has shown courage in coming up with a report card since the BJP has not done anything noteworthy. The biggest report card for any government is people’s satisfaction, but no one is happy with BJP’s performance. Last year in November, the Delhi high court had reprimanded the civic bodies for their inefficiency,” Mr Pandey said.
He added that a Comptroller and Auditor General report exposed the patchy approach of the BJP-ruled civic body in dealing with the vector-borne diseases like malaria and chikungunya.
The EDMC’s report card, released on Thursday, shows the work done by the municipality in the past five years.
Before presenting its report card, the BJP-ruled body forgot that they should have answered certain basic questions related to its bad financial health, poor delivery of health services, lack of adequate solid waste management system and lowly ‘investment’ in the education sector, the AAP leader said.
