Gurgaon: In a shocking incident, three people were burnt to death inside a CNG fitted Maruti Esteem car on Thursday late night after it caught fire. The incident took place near Ullahwas village in Sector 60 near the Golf Course Extension Road.

The deceased, aged around 28 to 35 years, were identified as Devender, Gajender, and Narender. All three were married and were close friends. They were residents of Palra village in Gurgaon. While Devender and Gajender were financially strong, Narender worked as a daily wager. The police and fire officials suspect technical faults to be the reason behind the incident.

As the car was CNG fitted, short circuit in CNG cylinder could have sparked off the blaze. “The police was informed about the incident by a passerby around 10.20 pm. A team rushed to the spot immediately, who in turn informed the fire department. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire. By then 80 per cent of the car had been burnt, including the three occupants,” said Pramod Kumar, a former village head of Palra village.
