New Delhi: Mayor, North Delhi Municipal Corporation, Adesh Gupta on Monday alleged that the Delhi government is trying to take over roads even less than sixty feet from the civic body.

Mr Gupta opposed the letter received from Delhi government on road repair work, in which the Delhi government has asked the NOC for the repair work of the roads even under 60 feet.

Mr Gupta claimed that a letter was received from Delhi government, in res-ponse to the North Corporation demands for the fun-ds for road repair under LA Road Head of Accoun-ts for repair and improvement of internal roads and streets of colonies.

“The letter stated that the proposed funds of Rs 1,000 crore for all the three corporations needs to be used in the said work. This fund, however, was earmarked and never received by the North Corporation,” said Mr Gupta.

According to Mr Gupta, earlier, the North Corpor-ation has proposed 17 different schemes worth '91.05 crore for the repair and improvement of roa-ds.

“In total, corporation needs funds of '327 crore for 47 schemes, under which it plans to do the repair and maintenance work on 250 roads and lanes under its jurisdiction,” Mr Gupta added.

Mr Gupta pointed that the North Corporation has not received any funds this financial year under the Plan Heads for road repair and maintenance, cleanliness, maintenance of parks and community centres. Chairman of Sta-nding Committee, Veena Virmani said that the Delhi government is not doing work in the areas under its jurisdictionand trying to cripple the North Corporation by encroaching upon its jurisdiction.
