Biometric attendance system in SDMC soon
The SDMC claimed that the system is being successfully implemented in the schools of Najafgarh zone.
New Delhi: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) is all set to install Aadhar enabled biometric attendance system in all its offices. The corporation will be installing about 1,350 devices in different offices.
According to SDMC’s standing committee chairman Shailender Singh Monti, 1,348 devices will be required for installation at the SDMC headquarters, zonal offices, schools, health units and offices of the DEMS, horticulture and CSD in each ward.
He believed that the new system will ensure punctuality and help in the management of records in a better manner. “The new system will be more user friendly as it will include a tablet based integrated attendance device with fingerprint scanner. This will be portable and helpful for marking attendance of the field employees. The device can be easily connected to the Internet through an in-built sim slot with wi-fi option,” said Mr Monti.
The system will enable an employee to register attendance by presenting the biometric (fingerprint/iris) details which will be authenticated online by doing one to one match with the biometric record stored in the UIDAI database against the employee’s Aadhar card number.
Elaborating the features, SDMC mayor Shyam Sharma said that attendance marking will be possible in any office where the device is in use. The location of that office will be reflected in the attendance sheet. The employees will not be able to mark attendance using back date or mark someone else’s attendance and the time taken to record attendance will be very less.
The SDMC claimed that the system is being successfully implemented in the schools of Najafgarh zone. “150 such devices are working smoothly. Hence, the new system in the SDMC is a tried, tested and trusted one. As far as the estimated cost of 1,348 devices is concerned, an amount of Rs 1.33 crore will be required including the cost of two years’ warranty,” said Mr Sharma.
