Man tries to save woman, attacked
The incident took place on Tuesday noon at around 12.30 pm in I.P. Extension Part 1 near Indira Camp.
New Delhi: While the police urges citizens to be alert and help them curb crimes, a 40-year-old samaritan and his 20-year-old nephew had a close shave with death when the duo tried to stop a gang of four men, who in a brazen manner were allegedly harassing, beating and abusing a woman in public view in Madhu Vihar police station limits.
The injured have been identified as Sanjay Bhati, 40, a resident of I.P. Extension and his nephew Vinay Kumar, 20.
The injured woman has been identified as Geeta, 35. The accused have been identified as Raes Qureshi, his nephew Nirale Miyaan, their friend Amit Mishra and Shakeel.
The incident took place on Tuesday noon at around 12.30 pm in I.P. Extension Part 1 near Indira Camp. It was a high voltage drama which took place on Tuesday when a gang of uncouth goons were seen harassing Geeta.
While passersby chose to remain mute spectators, Sanjay, who was passing by, tried to intervene and stop the two men, Raes and Shakeel, who were abusing the woman and pushing her ruthlessly.
According to the complainant, when Sanjay intervened and stopped the duo, Raes and Shakeel began blowing punches on his stomach.
Meanwhile, the nephew of one of the accused Raes, Nirale, saw the scuffle, grabbed a hockey stick and ran towards Sanjay. The three then start hitting Sanjay with hockey and iron pipes.
He further alleged, “After hearing loud cries of help, my nephew Vinay came to my rescue. But he was stopped by the three, who then began hitting him with hockey sticks following which he sustained innuries on his head and collapsed. Somehow, I manage to get out and ran for my safety, but another friend of the accused, named Amit, stopped me, took out a baseball bat and began hurling blows on me. They then caught hold of the woman and started assaulting her again,” added Sanjay. However, a critically injured Sanjay managed to make a call to the police control room following which the police rushed to the spot and shifted the three injured, including, Geeta, to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital where the trio were admitted and were given first-aid. After receiving medical aid, the victim gave his statement to the police.
Madhu Vihar police has registered a case under Sections 323, 341, 308,506/r/w 34 of Indian Penal Code
