New Delhi: Taking lesson from regular failures in the Dusu polls, the Congress has trained its guns for the upcoming elections by deputing senior leaders for micromanagement of the students’ election. The party has also finalised names of some candidates and is likely to field a Schedule Caste girl to woo dalit votes.

The names doing rounds in the party circles about the likely candidates for the Dusu polls are Rocky Tushir, Shoryavir Singh, Avinash Yadav and Dinesh Tanwar. It is learnt that Ms Leena could be a dalit face of the NSUI. A highly-placed source said that the party has decided to field the dalit candidate as ABVP has never fielded any dalit in the last five years of elections.

Sources said that in order to win the Dusu elections the party has come out with new strategies. “We are planning to make college in-charge to help candidates. Daily meetings will be held at state office. We are also told to reach out the students at their doorstep and to convince them to vote for NSUI. DUSU is a large elections and to win such kind of elections we have to plan in advance at large scale,” the source said.

The source added that the Dusu election provides a platform to youth to enter national politics in the future. The Congress party will also help the candidates through social media campaigns. “This time we have tightened our socks. We will promote them on social networking sites,” the source said. Dusu elections will be held on September 12.
