New Delhi: In a huge relief to the victims of acid attack, the Delhi State Legal Service Authority (DSLSA) will provide jobs to them as clerks. The move comes after the Delhi high court ordered the creation of posts of lower divisional clerks in DSLSA. The DCW has been relentlessly pursuing the Delhi government and its agencies to provide employment to victims of acid attack.

Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal, who had been pitching for the employability of the acid attack victims, expressed heartfelt gratitude for efforts of DSLSA in compensating and rehabilitating survivors of acid attack in a letter to member secretary, DSLSA. She stated that the commission was deeply heartened to learn about the recent decision of the Chief Justice of the Delhi high court to provide jobs to survivors of acid attack in DSLSA. Further, she termed this decision was exemplary and will go a long way in rehabilitating survivors of acid attack which is truly one of the worst forms of violence. The DCW has submitted the data of acid attack victims available with it to DSLSA. The DCW has also written to the Delhi police to seek an updated list of acid attack victims in Delhi.

“The commission has been making persistent efforts to ensure proper rehabilitation of acid attack victims since the past one-and-a-half years. Within weeks of her joining, the DCW chairperson had written to the ministers of Delhi to seek employment for these victims. The Delhi government had ordered employment of these victims and the Delhi government had anointed department of social welfare as the nodal department for the same,” a statement from DCW said.

The commission shall be writing to the DSW to seek an update on the same,” a statement from the commission said.
