New Delhi: Tension prevailed in Southeast Delhi’s Meethapur Chowk when an 11-year-old minor boy, who was missing for the last four days, was found murdered in a drain near the MCD school with his throat slit.

The bereaved family members of the minor resorted to vandalism, following which the police had to resort to mild caning to disperse them.

The relatives alleged that the minor boy, who had gone missing, was murdered and later his body was thrown away. They also alleged that he might have been sodomised. The police has recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.

The police said the minor has been identified as Akash, son of Sanjay Jha. The family alleged that their boy had gone missing last Wednesday. He had left for his school that day, however the child never returned. They alleged that the police shoved up its responsibility when they reported the matter.

“A case was registered under Section 363 of the IPC and a search was carried out. Further action will be initiated after post mortem and medical opinions have been received,” said DCP (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal.

Meanwhile, after receiving the news of the boy being murdered, the angry family members of the minor and some of his other relatives gheroed the police station. They accused the jurisdictional police of negligence. To control the uproar, police used physical force. The situation was brought back to normal only after the intervention of the senior officers. The relatives were pacified and assurance was given to them that the culprit will be booked soon.
