New Delhi: A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attempting to cut open an ATM open in Shahdara, the police said on Wednesday.

The police reached the ATM of Punjab National Bank in Farsh Bazar area on Tuesday after being informed that there was a theft but found its shutter closed, they said.

When it was opened, a person identified as Nazir alias Babu was found cutting the chest of machine using a gas cutter and other tools.

During interrogation, he revealed that he had made CCTV cameras dysfunctional.

He also revealed that he was an electrician in an electrical company in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

He left his job and started robbing. He used to wear gloves and a mask to hide his identity, the police said.
