SDMC mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat has issued instructions to the concerned department to ensure security of the students in the government schools.
New Delhi: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to hold the principals responsible for any lapse in the safety and security of students studying in its schools. SDMC mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat has issued instructions to the concerned department to ensure security of the students in the government schools. She also sanctioned an amount of Rs 4 crore for this purpose.
She said that a team of school and ward level officers will visit the schools for security audit. Notably, 2.85 lakh students are being imparted education through 581 SDMC schools.
The mayor has asked the concerned officers to ensure that all electrical fittings and allied items be safe and that regular inspections should be conducted to avoid any unfortunate incident.
“An effort should be made to provide safe drinking water facilities and the sanitation condition should be maintained, particularly in the toilet area. No student should be allowed to go out of the school during school hours except with prior approval of the principal,” she said.
