L-G pushes for single app for civic plaints
He also deployed 70 additional environment marshals to check polluting activities in the city.
New Delhi: Lieutenant-governor Anil Baijal on Thursday directed the municipal bodies to adopt a single mobile application for registering complaints regarding garbage and waste burning in the open. He also deployed 70 additional environment marshals to check polluting activities in the city. The directions came during the review of the detailed action plan of the agencies/stakeholders on measures to combat air pollution in the national capital.
For the action plan on solid waste management, the L-G directed the municipal bodies to rework their programme keeping in mind the 100 per cent waste management of the day-to-day generation of solid waste, including biodegradable components as well as construction and demolition waste.
“The plan should indicate milestones and a time frame not exceeding sixteen months,” the L-G said.
The secretary (environment) of Delhi government informed the L-G that 14 home guard volunteers as environment marshals have already been deployed in seven wards of the municipal corporations (three in EDMC, two in SDMC, and two in NDMC). It is being increased immediately by another 70 in identified wards.
