Man held 2 weeks after killing wife, son

New Delhi: Two weeks after murdering his wife and son, the Delhi police arrested the accused husband from Jharkhand.

A school belt worn by the accused helped the police in establishing the deceased’s identity. The police said that the accused’s alleged friendship with other men had led to the murder.

According to the police, the accused served liquor to deceased woman before killing her. With the arrest of the accused, Babloo Kumar Mondal alias Sanjay (29), the police has seized the weapon used by the man to kill his wife and son and his blood stained clothes.

On May 25, an information was received by the police about the foul smell emanating from the first floor of S-15/475, Janta Jeevan Camp, Okhla Phase-2. Seeing that the room of the house was locked, the police broke the lock and found two decomposed dead bodies of a woman and a boy. There were sharp, deep injuries on the neck of both the deceased. After minute inspection of the crime spot and the bodies, both the bodies were sent to AIIMS hospital for post-mortem.

During inquiry, the house landlord revealed that deceased woman and her son were living in his house alongwith her husband, Sanjay, from past 10 months. He said that they were introvert and never spoke to anyone in the neighbourhood.

Hence, the plice could get no substantial details about the deceased. During course of the investigation, the police questioned several residents and also deployed secret informers.

The jhuggi of the deceased was minutely scanned and from the jhuggi a school belt was found. The police went to the school at Tughlakabad Extn and got it opened.

Admission form of the child was retrieved from the school and on the form’s basis, the identity of the deceased was established. The police identified the deceased woman as Sabitri Ghosh @ Bhado, 30 and her 8-year-old son and stated she was residing the jhuggi with Babloo, a permanent resident of Malda. The deceased persons were last seen alive with Babloo on April 23.
