New Delhi: The security agencies were on their toes after a Delhi police constable, who was in an intoxicated state, allegedly made a call to the Rohini district police control room (PCR) threatening that he will kill chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. The constable was posted at 7th Battalion of Delhi Armed Police (DAP) in Malviya Nagar.

Police sources said the constable, Vikas Kumar, claimed that while he was returning home, he had given a lift to a stranger on his bike.

“The unknown man made a call from the constable’s phone,” said a senior police officer. However, a senior police officer, investigating the matter said that Mr Kumar also told his name and designation when he called.

The call, received in Narela, was transferred to the Bawana police station. Apart from the local police, the Special Cell of Intelligence Bureau too joined in the investigation to find out the identity of the caller. In a joint interrogation by all the security agencies, police eventually tracked down the constable.

When constable Vikas was questioned, he claimed that he was depressed due to familial troubles and that under the influence of alcohol he had made the call to PCR.

However, he later changed his statement and alleged that the call was made from his mobile phone by an unknown person, whom he had given a lift on his bike. The police said that it has taken departmental action against the constable and a probe is underway in the matter.
