Gupta says AAP government free surgery initiative aimless

New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Tue-sday said that the workshop on the launch of free surgery at private hospitals in the city announced by Aam Aadmi Party government is yet another aimless initiative to distract the public attention from its continuous failures in health sector ever since the party came to power in 2015.

Mr Gupta alleged that Delhi government has miserably failed in all sectors of health care including prevention of dengue, swine flu, and chikungunya.

“The Delhi government failed to provide the basic treatment facilities in the mohalla clinics, which was the dream project of the government. Most of the hospitals in Delhi are running short of doctors, paramedical staff, technical staff, essential medicines, laboratory services, and diagnostic facilities,” claimed Mr Gupta.

He alleged that the purchase of medicines and equipments through Central Purchase Agency (CPA) has been a huge failure. “Many doctors in hospitals are feeling extremely de-motivated due to this lack of supply of medicines and equipments. The government has realised that it has committed innumerable mistakes leading to this miserable failure,” he said.

According to Mr Gupta, in order to divert the attention of the common people from its failures, the government is resorting to announcing such projects that lack any vision and planning.

“Conducting surgeries is not a child’s play. Proper identification of infrastructure, allocation of equitable resources, and sharing of responsibilities are key components. Without doing any homework, the government is announcing such projects only to hide its failures,” he added.
