A police team was immediately formed and it visited the spot and carried out a thorough inspection of the scene of crime.

It was learnt that at the time of the incident, every member of the Bedi household had gone out to attend a wedding function. Only the fourdomestic helps (maids) namely Kunti, Deepa, Jyoti and a ‘Juvenile’ remained in the house. It was also noticed by the team members that the “entry” of the criminals involved in the incident was ‘friendly’ which further pointed towards the role of the insiders especially the four maid servants who had stayed back in the house while the Bedis were out to attend the function.

The team members then examined all the house inmates (including the domestic help in order to get any clue of the incident, but in vain.
